A 3.8-ounce 100 percent polyester interlock with a color-locking finish intended to resist fading, which is the specification that matters most on a garment worn outdoors and washed often. The collar is a cadet collar rather than a mock, the zipper is a reverse coil, the sleeves are set in for shoulder movement, and the cuffs and hem are open rather than ribbed. The tag is removable.

Which quarter-zip:
Canter & Crest offers two weights of quarter-zip, and they are not the same garment. This one is a 3.8-ounce polyester athletic layer: light, wicking, made to go over a shirt and come off when the day warms. The Signature and Heritage Crest Quarter-Zips in the men’s line are an 8.25-ounce cotton fleece, a warm layer rather than a wicking one. Choose by what the layer has to do, not by the crest.
Heritage or Signature:
The Heritage Crest is the full insignia: crest, name, and mark of origin, in the manner of traditional equestrian insignia. The Signature crest is the emblem alone, understated. Same garment, different weight of statement.
Why it is here:
Most branded quarter-zips are cotton fleece regardless of what they are asked to do. A polyester interlock at 3.8 ounces is a different tool: it moves moisture rather than holding it, and the color-locking finish is aimed squarely at fading, which is what retires most barn layers before the seams give out.
