Deerskin is soft and light and conforms to the hand faster than cowhide, while staying abrasion resistant, which is what suits a glove worn to handle rope, wire, hay and gates. These are unlined, so there is no bulk between the hand and the work. An elasticized cuff with a hook and loop closure means they go on and off quickly.
