A dressage bridle with a contoured patent-leather browband and a generously padded crown.
The browband is the point: contoured to the shape of the head and finished in patent leather, which is a high-gloss coating rather than a polish, so it holds its shine without being fed. Against a matte black bridle it reads as one deliberate line rather than as decoration. Underneath, the crown and the crank noseband are generously padded, and the throatlatch adjusts on both sides, which lets the bridle be squared on a head that is not symmetrical. Flash attachment and stainless steel hardware. Webbed reins with matching rein stops are included.
Specifications:
- Contoured patent-leather browband
- Generously padded crown
- Padded crank noseband
- Flash attachment
- Throatlatch adjustable on both sides
- Stainless steel hardware
- Webbed reins with rein stops included
- Black
- Sizes Full (Horse) and Oversize
Fitting a crank noseband:
A crank can be closed far tighter than a plain buckle, and the mechanism makes that easy to do without noticing. It should be snug, not tight. Two fingers should slide flat between the noseband and the nasal bone.
Fit:
Standard bridle measurements vary by a quarter to a half inch, so measure the bridle currently in use rather than ordering by breed or height. There is no Cob in this bridle; it starts at Full. Check the browband first, and note that a patent browband has no give at all.
What sets this one apart:
The browband is contoured to the head and finished in patent leather, a high-gloss coating that holds its shine without being fed, so one bright line sits against an otherwise matte bridle. The crown and the crank noseband are generously padded, and the throatlatch adjusts on both sides, which lets the bridle be squared on a head that is not symmetrical. A flash attachment, stainless steel hardware and webbed reins with matching rein stops are included.
Reins included:
Webbed reins with rein stops. Webbing grips wet better than plain leather, and rein stops keep a running martingale or rein ring from sliding down to the bit.
Why it is here:
Patent used structurally rather than as trim. A patent browband is one line of shine on an otherwise matte bridle, which is how a dressage turnout carries brightness without carrying decoration.
