A black nylon ear bonnet with a beige frame and a beige embroidered logo.

An ear bonnet does two jobs at once and they pull against each other. It has to keep insects off the ears and damp down noise, which needs coverage; and it has to sit still without gripping, which needs give. Valerie Equestrian builds these from a dense nylon that keeps a clean structured silhouette, with an elastic body that adapts to the shape of the head and a softer, breathable fabric where the fabric meets the ears. The logo is embroidered rather than printed.

Specifications:

  • Dense nylon construction
  • Elastic body that adapts to the shape of the head
  • Soft breathable fabric around the ears
  • Black body with a beige bound frame along the lower edge
  • Beige embroidered logo at the brow

What sets this one apart:

The body is black, with a beige bound frame along the lower edge and a beige embroidered logo at the brow. Black is a conventional body color for a show ring, and the beige contrast is a warm one rather than a loud one.

Why it is here:

Soft fabric only where the ears sit. A bonnet made entirely of dense nylon holds its shape and rubs; one made entirely of soft knit is comfortable and sags. Splitting the materials by where they touch is the harder build.
