Rubber grip reins in Ovation's Elite line, offered in two rubber-to-leather ratios.
Ovation describes its Elite Dark Brown collection as Wicket and Craig American leather, accented with champagne colored stitching. Rubber holds in rain, in sweat and in a bare hand, which is why it is standard on cross-country and on green horses. The trade is bulk and a schooling look that some show rings do not want.
Specifications:
- Leather: Wicket and Craig American leather, as Ovation describes its Elite Dark Brown collection
- Color: Dark Brown with champagne colored stitching
- Grip: rubber
- Sizes: 3/4 in rubber x 5/8 in leather x 54 in; 5/8 in rubber x 1/2 in leather x 54 in
- Care: wipe clean after use; clean with conditioner or saddle soap as needed
Fit:
Both options are 54 in long. The choice is width. The 5/8 in leather with 3/4 in rubber is the heavier rein and fills a larger hand or a gloved hand. The 1/2 in leather with 5/8 in rubber is the lighter rein and suits a smaller hand, or a rider who wants less between hand and mouth.
What sets this one apart:
A rubber grip over Wicket and Craig American leather with champagne colored stitching, as Ovation describes its Elite Dark Brown collection. Rubber holds in rain, in sweat and in a bare hand, at the cost of bulk and a look some show rings do not want. Two ratios are offered, 3/4 in rubber over 5/8 in leather and 5/8 in rubber over 1/2 in leather, both 54 in long.
Why it is here:
Two rubber-to-leather ratios at the same 54 inch length. Rein width is what decides whether a rein fills the hand or disappears in it, and offering the choice means a gloved hand and a small hand are not sold the same rein.
