An external, weighted training aid that attaches to the boot to train rider position and seat stability. CorrectConnect states that adding weight to the foot opens the hip angle, allowing the rider to absorb the horse's movement and lengthen the leg for a more stable lower leg and effective jumping or dressage position.
The Equisole EX consists of 2.5 pounds of lead in two separable 1.25-pound pieces, set inside an external heel that attaches firmly to the boot. CorrectConnect describes a steady gravitational pull that helps a dressage rider achieve a longer, more relaxed leg and helps a jumping rider sink weight into the heels.
CorrectConnect states the weight builds muscle memory that carries over once the piece is removed.
Use
Long-distance walking in the Equisole EX is not recommended. Attach it to the boot immediately before mounting, or have an instructor attach it once mounted. Begin at the walk without stirrups to let the weight open and loosen the hip flexors, then progress to faster gaits as the rider adapts. Riders with tight hip flexors may want to limit early use to the walk, or ride with shorter stirrups to reduce stretch. Any pain beyond normal stretching should be evaluated by a physical therapist.
Important notice
The Equisole EX contains lead, which is toxic if ingested or inhaled. Keep it away from animals or children who may attempt to chew on it.
One size fits most. Sold as a set of 2.
Why it is here:
Two separable 1.25 pound pieces rather than one fixed weight. A rider who cannot yet carry 2.5 pounds through a session can start at half and add the second piece later, which is how a weighted aid ends up used correctly rather than abandoned after one ride.
