A leather belt with a double snaffle bit motif worked into the hardware, in eight sizes from 30 to 44 inches.

The snaffle motif is the whole design. Rather than decorating the strap with stitching, this belt sets a metal double snaffle detail into the hardware, which is the traditional equestrian belt idiom and reads as a deliberate reference rather than a logo. The strap is belting leather, which is the firmer, heavier hide used where a leather has to hold its shape under tension rather than drape. Stitched in cotton thread.

Specifications:

  • Belting leather
  • Double snaffle metal motif
  • Cotton thread stitching
  • Leather color: Havana, Black or Oak Brown
  • Hardware: Brass or Stainless Steel buckles
  • Eight sizes: 75 cm through 110 cm, which is 30 through 44 inches

Fit:

Sizes are given in centimeters and inches together, 30 to 44 in two-inch steps. Belt sizing is not waist sizing. Measure a belt you already wear from the buckle pin to the hole you use, or take your trouser waist and add roughly two inches. Breeches with a wide waistband sit higher than trousers, so a belt worn over breeches often needs the larger of two adjacent sizes.

What sets this one apart:

The decoration sits in the metal rather than in the stitching: a double snaffle bit motif worked into the hardware, not a stamped logo. The strap is belting leather stitched in cotton thread, offered in Havana, Black or Oak Brown with brass or stainless steel buckles.

Belting leather is the specification worth noticing.

Belting leather is cut and finished to hold tension without stretching, which is a different requirement from a bridle leather that has to soften and mold. A belt made from a soft hide lengthens over a season and the hole you use moves. This one is built not to.

Why it is here:

A snaffle motif in the hardware rather than a stamped logo. The strap is belting leather, cut and finished to hold tension without stretching.
