A breastplate whose main straps are elastic, with leather inserts at the breast and leather bottom straps running down to the girth. It is offered in Pony and Warmblood, with no Cob or Horse size in between.

The defining specification is that the body of this breastplate is elastic rather than leather. Elastic gives along the line of the chest, so the strap can lengthen as the chest expands and shorten again, instead of holding one fixed length. Leather is used where the piece has to hold its shape and take the load, at the breast inserts and on the bottom straps that carry down to the girth. D-rings on the girth straps give the snaps a fixed point to clip to, and the running attachment adjusts through a run of holes on the attachment itself and on the breast strap.

Specifications:

  • Elastic body with leather inserts at the breast
  • Leather bottom straps running to the girth
  • D-rings on the girth straps
  • Snaps at both ends to attach to the saddle
  • Running attachment, adjustable through holes on the attachment and on the breast strap
  • Stainless steel buckles, polished and lacquered
  • Leather: Vegetable Tanned
  • Leather color: Oak Brown (Reddish Brown) or Conker (Tan Brown)
  • Sizes: Pony and Warmblood

What sets this one apart:

The body of the breastplate is elastic rather than leather, so the strap across the chest lengthens as the chest expands and shortens again instead of holding one fixed length. Leather is kept where the piece has to hold its shape and take the load, at the breast inserts and on the bottom straps that carry down to the girth. D-rings on those girth straps give the snaps a fixed point to clip to.

Why it is here:

An elastic body rather than a leather one. The chest strap can change length with the horse instead of sitting at one fixed length, and the leather is kept where the load sits, at the breast and on the girth straps.
