Leather tendon and fetlock boots, sold as fronts, hinds or a full set, with a choice of leather or sheepskin lining.
These protect the leg, not the hoof. A front tendon boot shields the flexor tendons that run down the back of the front leg from a strike by the opposite foot or a hind foot, which is the injury that ends seasons. A hind fetlock boot protects the inside of the fetlock joint from the same kind of contact. The outer shell is leather, the closures are adjustable so the fit can be set to the leg rather than approximated, and the lining is where the real choice sits.
Specifications:
- Leather outer shell
- Inner padding: leather or sheepskin
- Adjustable closures
- Sold as front boots, hind boots, or a full set of four
- Colors: Black, Havana
Leather lining or sheepskin:
Leather lining is firmer, wipes clean and holds its shape. Sheepskin is softer against the leg and more forgiving on a horse that rubs. Sheepskin also needs more care, because it holds sweat and grit in a way a leather lining does not.
The full set is four boots in one order.
Worth knowing before you choose. The full set is a front pair and a hind pair together, offered in leather lining and in sheepskin alike. If you intend to end up with all four, buy the set.
What sets this one apart:
The outer shell is leather rather than a molded synthetic, and the lining can be specified in leather or in sheepskin. Closures are adjustable, so the fit is set to the leg rather than approximated. They are sold as fronts, as hinds, or as a full set of four, in black or havana.
Why it is here:
A full set of four in one order, with the lining specified in leather or sheepskin. Protecting all four legs is one purchase rather than two.
