An anatomical jumping bridle with a pressure-relief crownpiece, a removable flash and rubber reins.

This is the anatomical answer rather than the traditional one. The crownpiece is a triple strap design with ear cutouts and a central relief gap through the middle, so the load sits either side of the poll rather than directly on it. The browband and noseband are both anatomically shaped and padded, cut to follow the contours of the head, with raised fancy stitching on each. The noseband carries a removable flash and a buckle guard, which is the part that stops a buckle pressing into the jaw over a long session. Cheekpieces are 1/2 inch with hook stud fastenings, and the hardware is stainless steel throughout.

Every strap that touches the head is shaped rather than straight. The crownpiece is a triple strap design with ear cutouts and a central relief gap, so the load is carried either side of the poll rather than across it, and the browband and noseband are both curved and padded with raised fancy stitching. The noseband takes a removable flash behind a buckle guard, and the reins are rubber with martingale stoppers.

Fit:

Four sizes, Pony, Cob, Horse and Warmblood. Measure the bridle you ride in now rather than the horse, and check the browband first, because it is the one piece that cannot be let out. An anatomical browband is cut curved, so it will sit differently from a straight one at the same nominal size.

Which leather:

Two are offered. Vegetable tanned leather is tanned with plant tannins rather than chromium salts, which is the slower process and produces a firmer hide that darkens with use rather than staying flat. Italian English leather is the other option.

Why it is here:

A relief gap cut through the crownpiece rather than padding added on top of it. Padding spreads pressure; a gap removes it from one place entirely, and it is a harder thing to build because the strap has to carry the load either side of the space.
