Stirrup leathers in vegetable tanned leather with a widened upper section, offered in a choice of length and leather color. Stirrup irons are not included.
The center section is 2.25 inches wide and 16 inches long, narrowing to 1 inch at the lower end. That wide section is the part that lies under the saddle flap against the rider's leg. A 1 inch strap has little to resist a twist, so it rolls and doubles over on itself where it crosses the flap and the iron then hangs at an angle to the foot. Spreading the same strap to 2.25 inches across the length that sits under the leg gives it a wider bearing surface, and a wider bearing surface resists twisting, so the lower leg rests against a flat face rather than a rolled edge. The lower end narrows back to 1 inch, which is the part that runs through the stirrup iron.

What sets this one apart:
The center section is 2.25 inches wide and 16 inches long, and that is the part that lies under the saddle flap against the rider's leg. A wider bearing surface resists twisting, so the strap does not roll and double over on itself where it crosses the flap, and the lower leg rests against a flat face rather than a rolled edge. The lower end narrows back to 1 inch, which is the part that runs through the stirrup iron.
Why it is here:
A 2.25 inch bearing surface under the leg. A strap that wide resists rolling over on itself beneath the flap in the way a 1 inch strap does.
