A barn vest has one job that a fashion vest does not: it has to be warm at the core while leaving the arms entirely free, and it has to survive the barn. This one answers both. The shell is water-repellent, so it handles a wet gate and a hose without soaking, and the lining is a soft ivory fleece, which is where the warmth comes from rather than from bulk insulation. Zippered pockets at the front and an interior pocket mean nothing falls out when a rider bends. Equestrian embroidery sits at the chest and across the back.

Fit:

Sizes XS to XXL. Cut as a layering piece rather than an outer shell, so it goes over a shirt or a long sleeve without binding at the shoulder.

Water-repellent is not waterproof.

Stated plainly because it decides what this is for. Water-repellent handles spray, a shower and a wet yard. It is not rated for sustained rain.
