A padded cotton lunge line with a loop end, cushioned where it runs through the hand.
The cushion is the point. A flat webbing line burns a hand when a horse pulls; padded cotton does not, and it is easier to gather in loops without cutting into the palm. At 25 feet it gives a genuine circle. The end is a loop rather than a chain, which is the gentler arrangement and the right one for a horse that lunges quietly. A nickel-plated snap attaches it and a rubber butt end stops the line running out of the hand.
Specifications:
- Soft padded cotton
- Loop end
- Rubber butt end
- Nickel-plated snap
- 25 ft long x 1 in wide x 1/4 in thick
- Available in a range of colors
What sets this one apart:
The end fitting is the decision, and this one ends in a plain loop with a nickel-plated snap, for a horse that lunges politely. The line is soft padded cotton, 25 feet long, 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick, with a rubber butt end. It is offered in a range of colors.
A note on use:
Never wrap a lunge line around a hand or an arm. Fold it into loops held in the palm so it can be released instantly. A horse that spooks on the end of 25 feet generates more force than a person can hold.
Why it is here:
Padding. A padded cotton line can be gathered into the hand and held firmly without cutting into the palm.
