An Italian calfskin paddock boot with a double zip and a square toe.
Two closures rather than one is the detail that defines it. A double zip lets the boot open wider to get on, then close to a tapered fit through the ankle, which is what a single zip cannot do. The leather is Italian calfskin, a finer, tighter grain than cowhide, which is why the boot takes a polish that reads as show rather than as barn. Elastic side panels handle the pull-on, a cushioned footbed carries the foot through a long day, and a non-slip rubber outsole grips wet and mud. The ankle is reinforced for support.
Specifications:
- Italian calfskin full-grain leather
- Double zip closure
- Square toe, tapered fit
- Elastic side gussets
- Cushioned footbed
- Non-slip rubber outsole
- Reinforced ankle
- European design and construction
- Black
- US women's 6 through 11, including half sizes
Fit:
Every half size from 6 to 10.5, then 11. Calfskin is finer than cowhide and molds faster, so a boot that is close across the ball of the foot when new will settle rather than stretch out of shape. One width.
What sets this one apart:
This boot is full-grain Italian calfskin, a finer and tighter grain than cowhide, closed with a double zip so it opens wide to get on and then shuts to a tapered ankle. It has a square toe, elastic side gussets, a reinforced ankle, a cushioned footbed and a non-slip rubber outsole, in one width.
Why it is here:
Calfskin and a double zip. A paddock boot worn under half chaps shows only the foot, and calfskin is what keeps that foot looking like part of a tall boot rather than like a shoe. The second zip is what makes a tapered ankle possible at all.
