A 300 g winter blanket on a 100D softshell outer, with a gusset and faux sheepskin inside and out.
Three hundred grams of foam fill is a heavyweight, and the outer is a 100D softshell rather than a plain shell fabric. The gusset is the part that matters on a horse that moves: it gives the shoulder room to swing rather than being held against the body, which is where a rug rubs and where a horse loses condition standing braced against one. Faux sheepskin panels of 35 by 30 cm sit both inside and outside. Quilting is diamond cut at 10 by 10 cm, the lining is polycotton, the binding is soft webbing, and there is a leg strap.
