A three-ring bit on a flexible mullen mouthpiece, for a horse with a strong forward tendency.
The three rings give the rider a choice of leverage on the poll: the rein position sets how much, so the same bit can be soft on a flat day and more direct on a cross-country course. The flexible mullen mouthpiece distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and keeps communication sensitive despite the leverage above it. A low port, bit guards to protect the lips and a steel core for stability complete it.
Specifications:
- Three-ring construction with variable rein positions
- Flexible Nathe mullen mouthpiece
- Low port
- Steel core for stability
- Bit guards included
- Sizes 5 1/8 and 5 1/2 inches
Suited to:
- Horses that become strong
- Horses that evade upward
- Situations needing more control without a harsher mouthpiece
Why it is here:
The usual answer to a strong horse is a harder mouthpiece, which teaches the horse to brace. Putting a soft flexible mouth inside an adjustable leverage cheek moves the increase to the poll instead, where the horse can answer it. The bit guards are the second reason: leverage bits pinch, and this one arrives with the fix included.
