A gag bit on a flexible Nathe mullen mouthpiece, for a strong horse that leans rather than a sharp one that spooks.
The mouthpiece is Nathe thermoplastic with a reinforced steel core, which gives gentle even pressure across the tongue. The gag action adds influence at the poll and the corners of the mouth, which is where a horse that pulls can actually be answered. Gag straps are included so the rein configuration can be set to the horse rather than fixed. This is a bit for experienced hands.
Specifications:
- Flexible Nathe thermoplastic mullen mouthpiece
- Reinforced steel core
- Gag action at poll and corners of the mouth
- Herm Sprenger gag straps included
- 5 1/2 inch
Suited to:
- Horses that pull or lean on the bit
- Horses that become heavy in the hand
- Experienced riders only
Why it is here:
A soft mouthpiece inside a leverage cheek is the honest way to address a strong horse. The alternative, a harder mouthpiece, teaches the horse to brace against the mouth it is already bracing against.
