A high-rise women's riding breech with a light eight-layer silicone knee grip, in fourteen colors.
The grip is the specification to read first, and on this pattern it is deliberately the lighter one. Eight layers of silicone are laid one over another at the knee rather than printed in a single pass, which is what holds the pattern to the fabric through washing, and the pattern is cut in the H motif. Harcour describes it as enough grip to keep a rider secure without locking the leg to the saddle. The fabric is 92% polyamide with 8% elastane in their Rider Stretch construction, treated to repel both dirt and water, which carries these into autumn and winter riding rather than only summer. The rise is cut high, so the waistband supports rather than sits below the seat.

Fit:
Sizes are listed in French and US together. This is the high-rise cut, developed from the Jalisca pattern.

How much grip:
The two high-rise patterns differ on exactly this. The Jaltika carries eight layers of silicone and is the lighter grip, for a rider who wants contact without being held in place. The Jalisca carries sixteen and is the stronger grip. Both figures are the maker's own. The Newport is mid-rise, also sixteen layers, in a clear grip cut plain for the hunter and equitation rings. The Vogue is the full seat, with silicone running from the seat down the leg.
Why it is here:
Layered silicone rather than printed silicone is the difference between a grip that survives fifty washes and one that flakes off in a season. Fourteen colors is the second reason, because a breech is the one garment a rider owns in quantity.
