Fit:
Sizes 4 to 16 in even numbers, a dress size rather than a chest measurement. There is no long or short option. A fully lined coat hangs closer than a half lined one, so check the fit through the shoulder with the arm forward rather than at halt.
Navy or black:
The same coat in two colors, identical in fabric, lining, crystal work and price. Black is the default and the safest choice in a strict ring. Navy is equally correct in dressage and reads slightly softer against a dark horse, and it is the one that does not disappear into a black shadbelly-heavy warm-up ring. Both are conventional turnout. If you are unsure what your division expects, check the rulebook rather than guessing from what you see in the warm-up.
Which show coat:
Two Ovation women's coat models sit here at $186.95, in the same fabric, for different rings. The Shine Dressage, this one, is fully lined with crystal accents, which is dressage turnout. The Mesh Hybrid is half lined in mesh with no decoration, which is the hunter and jumper coat and the cooler of the two. The crystals are the line between them: expected in dressage, wrong in a hunter ring. Above these two the store carries the FITS Zephyr II at $259, the Huntley Grand Prix EQJ at $400 and Harcour's women's competition jackets from $280 to $500, all of them cut for hunters or jumpers rather than dressage. This is the only dressage coat here.
It washes at home. The Mesh Hybrid does not.
Same fabric composition, same price, and this one machine washes cold on delicate and hangs to dry while the Mesh Hybrid is dry clean only. The full lining against the mesh half lining is the likely reason. Across a season this is the cheaper coat to own even though the sticker is identical.
Why it is here:
Machine washable dressage turnout, now in the second correct color. A white-breeches discipline generates laundry, and a show coat that has to go to a cleaner after every outing quietly costs more every time it is worn.
