The uninsulated jumpsuit: a fully waterproof ripstop shell with taped seams, a helmet hood and thumbholes.

This is a rider-focused jumpsuit design with the insulation left out, which makes it the one that works in April and October rather than only in January. The shell is breathable, waterproof and ripstop, with fully taped seams, so water does not come through the stitching. The hood rolls away and is cut oversized to go over a riding helmet, and the helmet visor flips backward and holds on a magnet to convert it to an ordinary hood. Leg zips let it pull on over boots. An interior cord cinches the waist. Thumbholes hold the sleeves down and stop water running up the arm.

Specifications:

  • Breathable, waterproof ripstop shell with fully taped seams
  • No insulation
  • Oversized roll-away hood that fits over a riding helmet
  • Helmet visor flips back and secures on a magnet
  • Leg zips for pulling on over boots
  • Interior waist cinch cord
  • Storm flap secured by magnets
  • Secure pockets including a crop pocket
  • D-ring at the hip for spurs
  • Thumbholes
  • Armpit zips and back ventilation
  • Sizes XXS through XXL in Regular and Short inseams

Fit:

Regular and Short inseams across every size. REDINGOTE's fit reference: a 5 foot 10 rider wears a Medium Regular. It is cut to layer over a riding outfit, so take your usual size rather than sizing up.

What sets this one apart:

It carries no insulation at all, so it is rain gear and wearable in any season rather than only in winter. The shell is ripstop, which resists a tear spreading once it starts, and there is back ventilation in addition to the armpit zips. Thumbholes hold the sleeves down at the wrist.

Why it is here:

Thumbholes on rain gear. They hold the sleeve down at the wrist, so water does not run up the arm or into a glove.
