A monocrown bridle with hand-braided leather accents on a contoured browband and a scalloped noseband.

Two things are happening here. The decoration is hand-braided leather raised onto the browband and the noseband, which is slow work. Underneath it, the crown is a contoured monocrown: the browband, cheekpieces and throatlatch hang from one shaped piece rather than stacking buckles at the poll, so load spreads across a wider area behind the ears. Browband, noseband and crown are all softly padded. Both sides of the cheekpieces, noseband and throatlatch adjust, so the bridle can be squared on an asymmetrical head. Flat laced reins are included.

Specifications:

  • Hand-braided raised leather accents on browband and noseband
  • Contoured, padded monocrown
  • Contoured browband and scalloped noseband, both padded
  • Cheekpieces, noseband and throatlatch adjustable on both sides
  • Stainless steel hardware
  • Traditional flat laced reins included
  • Black and Havana
  • Sizes Cob, Full, Full (Italian Leather) and Oversize

A note on the size list:

Full and Full (Italian Leather) are the same size. The Italian Leather option is a leather upgrade that appears in the size selector rather than the color one, so select it by leather rather than by fit.

Fit:

Standard bridle measurements vary by a quarter to a half inch, so measure the bridle currently in use rather than ordering by breed or height. Check the browband first: it is the one piece that cannot be let out.

What sets this one apart:

The browband and noseband carry hand-braided leather raised onto the surface, a contoured browband above a scalloped noseband. Under the decoration the crown is a single contoured, padded monocrown, so the browband, cheekpieces and throatlatch hang from one shaped piece and load spreads behind the ears rather than stacking at the poll. Cheekpieces, noseband and throatlatch adjust on both sides, so the bridle can be squared on an asymmetrical head.

Reins included:

Traditional flat laced reins, which suit the show ring and sit quietly against a bridle already carrying braid work.

Why it is here:

Hand braiding over a monocrown. Decoration is common and poll relief is not, and a bridle that does both is doing something for the horse as well as for the photograph.
