Grewal states these are comfortable from the first day, and the construction explains why. The zipper runs up the back rather than the inside, so nothing sits between the leg and the saddle, and a snap tab at the top and bottom covers and protects it. Behind the zipper is a stretch elastic panel that takes the calf. The ankle is tapered, the top is Spanish cut, and spur rests are fitted. Top-grain leather over gel insoles, with heavy-duty YKK zippers and snaps.

Fit, and the one limitation:

Grewal states the foot runs true to size. The calf comes in one width only, described as average, with the stretch panel providing the flexibility. That is the constraint on this boot: a rider with a genuinely slim or genuinely wide calf is not served by a single width, however good the panel. Measure calf circumference at its widest and height from the floor to the bend of the knee before ordering, and expect a new tall boot to sit high enough to wrinkle at the ankle, because leather drops as it breaks in.
