Patent leather, elastic and rubber. Patent is leather finished with a high-gloss coating, which is why it shines without polish and why it is cleaned rather than fed. Elastic side panels let the boot pull on with no laces and no zip. This is the show finish.

Fit:

Thirteen sizes, 5 to 11 with every half size. Patent has a coated surface with less give than uncoated leather, so it stretches less as it breaks in. Fit it correctly on day one rather than expecting it to give.

Care is different here, and it matters.

Do not polish patent. The coating is what gives the shine, and polish sits on top of it and dulls it. Wipe with a microfiber cloth, clean with a damp one, and use a leather cleaner gently if it needs more. That is Ovation's own instruction for this boot.
