The airbag itself. Worn alone, or zipped inside an approved Helite-compatible outer garment where it disappears entirely.

Helite builds the Zip-In 2 to inflate in 100 milliseconds across a volume of 14 to 28 liters, absorbing shock before the rider reaches the ground. It protects the back, chest, pelvis, hips and vital organs, and is reusable once the CO2 cartridge is replaced. It suits riders from 55 pounds upward.

Important:

Wear it on its own, or zipped into a Zip'In compatible jacket, vest or blouson. Helite states it must not be worn underneath a garment, because in a fall the airbag will not be positioned properly, will not inflate optimally, and the rider will not be well protected. Helite also states that a compatible outer carries the Zip'In label sewn inside the garment rather than printed on a hang tag, so check inside the garment rather than looking for a tag that may already have been removed.

Certification and warranty:

Helite airbags are certified by the CRITT Sport Loisirs laboratory, an independent body that certifies protective equipment for horse riding. The airbag carries a two-year warranty, extended to four years when it is registered with Helite within three months of purchase.

Why it is here:

This is the component the airbag-compatible garments in this collection are built around. A rider who wants show-ring protection that does not read as protection buys this and a compatible jacket, and the airbag becomes invisible.
